Dragon Alum - ORIGINAL

I could not believe this plant was real when I stumbled upon it, hiking in the mountains of Crete, Greece! It was like some sort of otherwordly, dinosaur-age, living space plant!!

I had to stop and do a quick plein air study to take it in and observe it's unique ad bizarre forms and colours. IT reminded me almost of a skunk cabbage, but deep crimson and with these incredible stems with that mottled tropical waxy pattern of pink and varied greens. And it's weird curly cue tongue foliage! It is like a whole bunch of different bog and tropical plants came together to have a baby!
