A watercolour meditation in the San Juan Panteón (cemetery) leading up to Día de los Muertos. Being in Mexico, and particularly in a cemetery at this sacred time of year is an honour. The first time 14 years ago changed my relationship with life and death, and how we relate to our loved ones who have crossed over. The colours, smells, celebrations, altars, flowers and blending between the dimensions is something so truly special it's hard to put into words.
This painting was from a very still and sweet moment with one of my closest friends...sitting in the peace of a rural panteón in the mountains..painting, knitting, and appreciating the mystery of life and death.
